The Best Restaurants in Tokyo for Every Price Range

After over three years of living in Japan, as a foodie, I have tried out many different restaurants. Today, I’ll let you know three restaurants that stand out from the rest, so you can have a good starting point for where to eat in Tokyo. I will try to include a restaurant for every price range, too, so that you can choose how much you want to spend while eating a delicious meal.

Starting on the high end of the price range, I really recommend Sushi Takaya. This is a high end sushi restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo, which will give you a pretty traditional and authentic Japanese sushi dinner. The fish is some of the freshest that I have tasted, and they also include some more innovative creations such as wagyu beef with sea urchin.

The chef is very friendly and is fluent in English, so this spot is popular among tourists visiting Japan. The price for an “omakase” course will be over 15,000 yen per person, but I really think it’s worth it for a memorable experience.

The next restaurant is an Indian restaurant in Kanda, Tokyo, called Andhra Dhaba, which specializes in south Indian cuisine. I walked into this place a few years ago after running an errand near Kanda station. I was surprised by how good the food was at a restaurant that I had basically picked at random because I was hungry.

It turns out that this restaurant has an honorable mention in one of the Michelin Guides, and I can absolutely see why. Everything I’ve eaten here, whether their lunch set, or their dinner options, has been amazing. They also have many vegetarian options as well as non-veg. A dinner here will cost you around 3,000 yen per person, and will cost more if you order a lot of appetizers and drinks.

The last place that I want to mention is actually a chain restaurant specializing in shabu shabu, which is Japanese hot pot. The restaurant chain is called Shabuyo, and there are many locations around Tokyo and the rest of Japan.

The main perk of this place is that you can get a lot of food for not much money. You can get unlimited meat and other add-ons to put into your shabu shabu, as well as an unlimited ice cream bar for 2,000 to 3,000 yen. Also, their all-you-can-drink price is very good, at a little over 1,000 yen!

That’s about it for the restaurants in Tokyo that I really recommend you visit while you’re staying here. I guarantee that if you pick any of these three places, then you will have a great meal that will fill you up for your future adventures in Tokyo!
